“Unique capabilities aside, the number of people that can carry a smartphone is significantly greater than the number of people that take a laptop with them when away from the office.” – The Convergence of Mobile Technology and Mobile Intelligence
Last July, MicroStrategy announced the arrival of MicroStrategy Mobile. Since then, there’s been a lot of excitement and discussion about how this mobile BI app platform has empowered organizations to create their own intuitive, powerful applications which take full advantage of the capabilities of the iPhone and iPad.
If you haven’t already seen the announcement for the new industry apps that have been added to MicroStrategy Mobile for iPad and iPhone, here’s a summary of what you can find in our updated version. I encourage you to download it for free (iPad and iPhone), then share with us your comments and any questions you might have.

The Telecommunications Channel App allows you to analyze and compare successes across multiple customer revenue channels and touchpoints, such as web, in-store, and call centers. This sample app shows just how easy it is to measure important analytics for greater customer retention and increased revenue.

From the captivating speakers taking the stage each day to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, we had a busy week at the 14th annual MicroStrategy World conference. There was record attendance at the conference with over 2,000 people, and high spirits all around. The sessions were thriving hotbeds of discussion and innovation thanks to everyone who presented, listened, and asked questions.
I’m continuing the coverage we’ve provided on our blog with more news from MicroStrategy World 2011! The final section of the general session keynote at MicroStrategy World 2011 on Day 2 featured our fearless speaker and Senior Vice President, Mark LaRow. It seems quite odd not having him on the stage until the middle of Day 2, but it’s always good to see him. He kicked off his section by introducing two customer keynote speakers. It’s always great to have customers in the keynote, as that really brings validation to the message. Today, we had Tony van der Hoek from Coca-Cola and Bruce Yen from GUESS?, Inc. So you get the feel for it, here’s the final setup of the general session room and the stage, filled to the gills with people.
“You may not be interested in technology, but technology is interested in you.” Making the famous quote relevant to these conference-goers and, more broadly, today’s economy, MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor sets the stage for a record-setting conference.
If you’ve been to MicroStrategy World before, you’ve seen the large size of the keynote session. Today? You’ll need to about double what you’re seeing in your head. The room has seats for more than 1,800, and is completely full. And the overflow rooms where the video simulcast is being played are also full. There are more than 2,000 people here, making this the biggest event we’ve had in years. Read the rest of this entry »
